Mike McKenzie is a BBC award winning, Indie-Pop Singer/Songwriter based in Edinburgh, Scotland. After nearly a decade behind the scenes as a freelance producer and songwriter he began his career as a solo artist in 2017. Since then, he has released multiple singles, EP’s and, most recently, his debut solo album "I'd Wait Again". His music has been described by The List as “A melting pot of Scottish folk, jangle pop and Americana”, “Gorgeous” by Jo Whiley and “An outstanding talent” by Grant Stott, and has received airplay from BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 4, BBC Scotland and over 120 regional stations throughout the UK.

 

Touring has seen Mike perform in iconic venues around the UK and beyond including King Tut’s and SWG3 in Glasgow, Queen’s Hall and Mash House in Edinburgh, Half Moon and Pizza Express in London, Hyde Park Book Club in Leeds, Alphabetti Theatre in Newcastle and several SoFar Sounds shows throughout the UK and Paris. He has opened for multiple touring artists including Lucy Spraggan, Vraell, Wet Wet Wet, Chris Helme (The Seahorses), Rianne Downey and Horse as well as performing at multiple festivals including TRNSMT, Hidden Door, Edinburgh PRIDE and Edinburgh's "Hogmanay".

Outside of his solo work, Mike is a prolific writer and collaborator, having previously worked on projects with PJ Moore (The Blue Nile), Black Lilys and Haquin as well as regularly writing with artists and songwriters from around the world.
